Title: Once Upon a Time
Character(s)/Pairing: Jimmy, Chazz, Stranz and Fairchild.
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100x3 (300)
Challenge: Childhood (23)
Summary : Everyone starts somewhere.
A/N: Well, at least now I can say I’ve tried to do Stranz and Fairchild at least once.

I. Jimmy

On one of the few days he wasn’t locked up practicing, his tutor took him to an art gallery.

Nothing had prepared him for the sheer grandness of it all. Life-size statues of heroes, masterpieces by fantastic artists.

“What you’re surrounded by,” the tour guide said, smiling painfully wide,” is proof that humans really can do great things.”

After the tour, Jimmy tugged politely on his tutor’s skirt. “I’m going to be a painter when I grow up.” he announced, with the determination and belief of a small child.

“No, Jimmy.” She sighed. “You’re going to be a figure skater.”

II. Chazz

Chazz had first seen them one cold afternoon in January, as he was slowly trudging home from school.

They twirled, and danced, and flowed across the ice. Chazz wasn’t a poetic child, or a particularly sensitive one. But this was beautiful, and he knew it.

That night, he thought about them while he scraped mac and cheese around his plate. His mother ranted and raved, rambled until she had to sit down for a smoke. Chazz stared at her across the table and told her what his plans for the future were.

“You can’t be a figure skater.” she scoffed.

III. Stranz and Fairchild

Stranz and Fairchild loved their parents once, in that unthinking way that children do.

“Mama. Daddy.” Fairchild said , all dimples and wide eyes. Her blonde locks were pinned up for practice just the way her mother had taught her. “ One day, Stranz and I are going to be just like you when we grow up. Right, Stranz?”

Stranz picked at the muffin they were sharing. He smiled shyly at the table. “That’s right.”

Their mother rocked baby Katie in her arms and murmured, without looking up,” That’s nice, dear.” Katie wailed loudly and their father cooed at her.
