Look, Summer
Fandom: Gossip Girl

Rolling fog, quiet night, the darkest sky there’s been all summer. Not a star to be seen, and not that he’d see it anyway, with the way he can’t stop looking at her.

Blair’s wearing black, something’s that’s slinky and tight, It fits her curves like a glove, wraps around her waist the way his fingers should.

The way his fingers will, soon, because he’s Chuck Bass.

Summer in the city is proving to be too hot to hold the two of them, and they burn their way through the clubs with flash-fire smiles and smoky laughs.

Chuck hasn’t slept with anyone in weeks, and it’s been longer still since he’s enjoyed it. He can taste her behind his teeth, a sense memory clinging desperately, and the only comfort is the way she sometimes looks at him - it looks a lot like the way he knows he looks at her.

“Let me take you home.” He says, and he means his home, not hers, and the night has been long enough that he can still hope. One sip had become two, her mouth pressed against the cool of her glass over and over, and his gin had become vodka become jack, become anything as she tilted her head back ito look at him.

Long night, long summer, long days that had somehow come to this, to the Summer of Chuck and Blair.

Soon, the sun’ll creep up and this night will be lost like all the others. He can see the frizz coming out in her hair, the fade in her lipstick, the crinkle in the side of her dress where she spent the evening leaning into him – and she still looks good, better than any girl in this city could hope to look – and when the sun comes up, she’ll look so good he’ll have to look away.

Blair laughs – she’s been happy this summer, he’s made sure of it, and it’s made up for the last one – and she says, “I’m not going to sleep with you.” She will, eventually, but not tonight, and he’s okay with that. Summer is far from over, and, hey – sex or not, Chuck Bass is still the guy taking Blair Waldorf home.

Oh dude, you're watching Gossip Girl now? \o/ I love it when we share fandoms! How much more do you have left to watch?

To be brutally honest, after season two I'm not a Chuck/Blair fan anymore, and most of the fandom seems to be devoted to them, so I don't play there much. Then again, I'm not really fond of any of the main pairings- my main "ship" is Chuck/Blair/Nate/Serena, and then I like any combination of the three boys, particularly Chuck/Nate though I'm a sucker for Nate and Dan's dorky-boyfriends-in-love vibe, and then Blair with Serena, Jenny or Dan, and Serena/Vanessa. (To me, Serena's the only character who can make Vanessa even remotely likable). So... yeah, my opinions are untraditional at best. *laughs*

But I can tell you offhand that [ profile] mardia's Dan/Blair au of doom is my favorite thing I've ever seen in the fandom. Here ( is her fic tag- the ones from the Dan/Blair au are tagged as such ("blair/dan au of doom") but I've enjoyed all her Gossip Girl fics so I figured I'd just link you to her general tag and have done with it. Like I said, though, the Dan/Blair au is my all time favorite. It's basically a rewrite of the series based on the premise that while Vanessa and Serena were gone, Dan and Blair became best friends, and tbh it's kind of what I wish the show could have given us, as much as I love the show. (And I do love it! Lots! I'm just saying...)

Yeah, I know! It’s so awesome when you see fandom peeps in different fandoms. As of now, I’m all caught up with it. I know, I was little late to the GG party, but honestly I thought it wasn’t going to be a good show. Then Spring Break came along and I was so bored that I downloaded the first season.

I can totally see why you would not be into Chuck/Blair. I have a habit of picking a pairing and sticking to it, even if it means digging my heels through stuff that makes me frustrated, as Chuck and Blair started doing during season 2. I have hopes though, but as usual I’ve picked a girl as my favorite, Blair, and I’d probably like whoever she’s with. (except, okay, Nate. I’ll admit, I don’t really get that) Chuck/Nate is awesome! I don’t see how anybody who has any inclination toward slash or bromances wouldn’t just latch onto them, and yes, Nate/Dan are incredibly enjoyable as well. It’s too bad there’s not more slash and femslash in this fandom, as I think there’s ample material for both. I’ve only recently started to like Jenny, and I would say that the one character who I really don’t think I’ll ever like is Vanessa. Serena/Vanessa? I never thought of that.

Thanks for the rec! I’ve started on it, and it’s great. On one hand, in my opinion there is nowhere near enough Dan/Blair out there, but on the other hand, there’s more than I’d honestly thought I’d find. Not too many good “happy ending” ones though, as far as I can tell. I think it’s too easy to have them end sadly.

I watched from the start, because I've always loved the books so much. The show's pretty different, though, so now I kind of have this vision of everyone that's half taken from the show, half from the books. *laughs* I'm glad you gave in and watched in the end! It's so awesome.

I liked Chuck and Blair originally, but then in season two they changed Chuck so much that it totally changed their relationship, too, and I don't approve of either alteration. *sigh* As for Blair/Nate, I hated them in the first season. I thought they were really, really boring. But then after last week's episode I'm shipping them. I can't really help it- that scene with them at Nate's family event thing was adorable. Plus recently I've been adoring Nate like mad, anyway.

I miss the days of s1 Chuck/Nate. That was truly epic. At least they're giving us Nate/Dan to make up for getting so much Nate/Vanessa. I seriously don't understand why people aren't writing more slash and femslash. There does seem to be a decent amount for Blair/Serena, at least, but what if I want to read about Blair and Jenny having hatesex? Where do I go then?! Sigh.

In that au I linked you to, she puts Serena and Vanessa together. I'd never thought about it until then, either, but if you do watch them in scenes together they're really adorable.

I like the idea of Dan/Blair, but tbh I have no idea how the show could do it. Blair's not exactly the model best friend, but even she loves S too much to do that to her.
